Alumina ceramics (Al2O3) is a metallic oxide material used as an engineering material in plant equipment. Because of the universal existence of aluminum and oxygen, the price of alumina material maintain a comparatively lower price than other materials.
Properties and applications:
1.Low density – much lighter than metal bearings which reduces weight & friction.
2.Extremely hard – ceramic bearing are much harder than conventional metal bearings. This means that they wear considerably less in use and last much longer.
3.Excellent surface finish – ceramic bearings are much smoother than metal bearings; the smoother the bearing, the less friction, and the more efficient.
4.Excellent thermal properties – ceramic bearings do not degrade in performance as they are used because they do not heat up or respond to heat like metal bearings.
5.Non-magnetic & electrical insulator – Ceramic bearings can be used in applications where electrical properties of conventional metal bearings would not be suitable.
6.Non-corrosive – ceramic bearings are non-corrosive and therefore require much less lubrication than conventional metal bearings.
